Goodbye IT concerns; hello core competencies
It became a bigger and bigger challenge for the company's relatively small IT department to support all employees 24/7, seven days a week. Moreover, BPI had an old server system that no longer met the standards of the present.
So they had to choose from investing in new in-house equipment or outsource.
After careful consideration, BPI chose to enter into a cooperation with IT Relation on a hosted solution.
BPI soon discovered that a hosted solution was the right choice for the company: "IT is developing incredibly fast, and a server system will presumably be very modern the first three days, but then it is outdated. By outsourcing our IT to IT Relation, we always have access to the latest technology, and our uptime is optimal," says Managing Director Jesper Brix.
He also emphasises that one of the major advantages of the co-operation is that BPI have now solved their challenges of supporting employees 24/7. According to Jesper Brix, they chose IT Relation simply because they were the best match for BPI in a number of parameters. "We felt that there was a good chemistry between us. IT Relation understood our business and made themselves acquainted with the issues we had, and that is why we chose them. We have no regrets. We have not had any inappropriate downtime and our systems have become faster and more efficient."
Moreover, BPI's Finance Director Per Aas Jensen points out, that they also chose an outsourcing solution on financial grounds because they wanted to spend more time on their core competencies and to process optimise the business, rather than on getting IT operations to function.

The IT Project Manager is particularly please with the fact that the IT department now always has a competent co-player and sparring partner when ever new projects have to be initiated.
Michael Bo Andersen tells how they were unsure of whether IT Relation were up to the job prior to startup, and whether the implementation would be as easy as alleged. According to Michael Bo Andersen these concerns were however belied, "The implementation was carefully planned. It actually took only one day from turning off our old equipment to being ready for operation with our new equipment."
