EMS – Enterprise Mobility + Security
Employees today expect to be able to work across different devices. At the same time, they need to work at any time and anywhere.
Mobility and concepts such as "Consumerisation of IT" and "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD) have become common in business. With these demands comes a number of safety precautions.
Employee demands and the need for constant work mobility offers challenges for companies. It is becoming increasingly necessary to have control over employee access to corporate data.
At the same time, it becomes more complex to protect data when employees log on to foreign networks and work outside the company walls. Mobile development therefore requires a strategy for access control and data protection.
Enterprise Mobility + Security
Enterprise Mobility + Security (also called EMS) is the name of Microsoft's platform for handling the above mobility challenges that many companies experience today.
EMS provides tools to support the needs of the employee and to manage and protect users, devices, apps and data. EMS gives employees the flexibility to securely access data and applications wherever they are and whatever device they use. It is a cost-effective way to protect your data, and generally consists of the following three products:
Microsoft Azure Active Directory Premium
This product is used to manage employees' identities and their access to the company's various systems. At the same time, it handles access to applications on-site and in the cloud, based on a single identity. The product also makes multi-factor authentication possible, so that security is improved. It also includes the option of safety reporting based on machine learning, providing an insight into the company's threat level.
Intune is used to manage applications across devices. It is supported by iOS, Android, Windows and Windows Phone devices. Intune also includes the selective removal of apps and data, resulting in a greater security.
Azure Right Management
Azure Right Management deals with the management of user rights. The aim is to increase security by controlling access to confidential data through encryption, access policies and identity management.
Some of the benefits of Microsoft's EMS solutions:
- Secure management of mobile devices
- Easy publishing of internal applications
- Control of user accounts
- A safe and easy way to share files with external partners
- Increased security against unwanted intrusions
- Easy and fast access to company data
